Welcome to the web page of the general practitioner’s office of Huisartsen Tweewaters!
What does a GP do? We are trained to take care of all aspects of your health, taking up responsibility for it just like yourself. We treat existing illnesses and try and prevent possible future ailments, according to the current evidence based guidelines. Patients are welcome to discuss infections, musculoskeletal issues, psychological difficulties, intestinal symptoms, vaccines, pregnancy follow-up, paediatric troubles… We also participate in cancer screening, most notably (but not limited to) Pap smears to detect cervix cancer in an early stage.
Our address is Schipvaartstraat 8 in 3000 Leuven. We are open on weekdays between 8 AM and 8 PM. You can contact our reception by phone on weekdays between 8 AM and noon by calling +32 16 310 310. Booking an appointment is quick and easy if you click the Appointment button above. Our agenda will first ask you whether you wish to book a regular consultation or a short one. This works as follows:
- For a simple and short question, such as “I have a cold and therefore can’t work”, or “My stomach hurts since yesterday” or “my allergies are bothering me so bad”, a short appointment of 10 minutes is ideal.
- For more delicate or complex issues, such as lasting fatigue, psychological difficulties, chronic pains, a regular consultation of 15 minutes is more suitable.
We strictly limit house calls to those patients who physically cannot come to the office because of medical reasons.
If you need an urgent appointment, but it looks like the online agenda is full, please call +32 16 310 310. Our staff or one of the doctors will try and work out a correct solution. If the office is closed and you have an urgent problem, please call 1733 to contact the on call service. They are located in the Hendrik Consciencestraat 33, 3000 Leuven.
For patients with Belgian health insurance, we apply the ‘third-party payer system’ where you only pay the out-of-pocket cost of a couple of euros. If you have a private insurance, no insurance at all, a European health insurance card, or the JSIS insurance for European civil servants, we will charge the official fee without supplements in full. An official receipt will be made that will entitle you to a reimbursement. We strongly prefer electronic payments.
If you miss your appointment more than once, a €20 fee will be charged. This fee cannot be reimbursed by your health insurance fund. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel at least one hour in advance, either through the confirmation email or by calling our office.
